BISPING DEMANDS APOLOGY
Michael “The Count” Bisping after finishing Jorge Rivera within a few rounds has demanded an apology for the video that was created by him earlier. It was a feeble ending to a verbal onslaught from both fighters. The fight was marred with a blatantly illegal knee from Bisping in round one, a knee that no doubt had an effect on the eventual TKO by the fired up Bisping.
After the fight, more extracurricular activities occurred when Bisping approached the battered Rivera and demanded an apology for the YouTube videos Rivera had made leading up to the bout poking fun at Bisping and his family origins. When the apology was not quickly offered, Bisping became further enraged, telling Rivera to “Go Home Loser”. Rivera’s corner men also accused Bisping of spitting in their direction in the moments after the illegal knee strike.
Since Sunday’s fight with Rivera, Bisping has been the center of the MMA world. With Twitter ablaze with words of encouragement from some, and blasphemy against the middleweight from others. Bisping has been on the middleweight radar since making the weight cut from light heavyweight in 2008. Since then, many feel that Bisping doesn’t have what it takes to be a top 10 middleweight. The two solid middleweights that Bisping has seen in the octagon were Wanderlei Silva and Dan Henderson. The Silva fight ended with Bisping on the wrong end of a unanimous decision, and the Henderson fight ended with Bisping on the business end of a Henderson right that will live in infamy as one of the most gruesome knockouts in UFC history.
